I think it would be awesome if vMix could accept as an imput screen mirrowing for Apple or Android devices. Tricasters accept Apple Airplay so it can't be that much of a major deal. Hopefully this is something we can all get behind and get Martin to stick into the "To Do" list for an upcoming vMix Version or update.

Jim, I googled and found How To Connect An iPad into TriCaster using AirPlay. The method they describe is based on AirServer, a stand-alone application that you can try/buy. Just replace "Tricaster" with "vMix" and iVGA Pro with vMix's desktop capture or Newtek's NDI Scan converter. One problem with getting support for AirPlay built into vMix is that it's a proprietary protocols. Another one is copyright issues. For example, you can't hook up an AppleTV's HDMI out to a typical video capture card. (Yes, there are some tricks to circumvent the DHCP protection).

So if your looking to get iOS device support in VMIX via AirPlay, this worked for me. I used a local desktop capture, but you could also point to a laptop or computer cand capture that desktop. Windows works but for video I recommend a Mac OS X for best results. The app I install for AirPlay is Airsquirrels Reflector 2On the desktop you can set it to full screen, remove the boarder. You will need to hook the iPAD/Mac to the same wireless network just like an AppleTV. You can install a trial and test it all out ahead of time. I use Apple TVs when not streaming, and Airsquirrels when I'm mixing and streaming. The cost is $14.99. They also have a solution called AirParrot that can be used for Mac or PC to also send content and desktops over AirPlay and Chromecast. They usually have discounts on Cyber Mondays each year. I don't get anything for this, just a solution I know that works with VMIX that is simple. Enjoy.

Another interesting function would be to have vMix output directly to Airplay. Say, an additional external out function, similar to NDI except it's airplay out to an AppleTV device for display. Could be handy to drive an external monitor or projector wirelessly.

Since recently I've been using Airplay for one of my clients.
Had been using Vmix in a small rack format with a wire to his macbook on stage, now I use the following setup:
- HDMI dummy plug to create 2nd screen
- Airserver pro on that screen
- Desktop capture in Vmix on display 2
Done
I use a PoE+ powered Ubiquiti AP and a Edgerouter X for networking with a 24 port HP switch in between.
Very stable and powerful, although videos on Airplay in large locations are sketchy (I had moved most video content to Vmix already).

Hey
We recently did it with a simple Apple TV plugged into vMix in HDMI.
Worked perfectly, and you get the Apple TV for watching Netflix ;)
