Hello,
I would like to record a PPT presentation that I ingest via NDI from a laptop with vMix desktop capture.
The NDI stream is ok in main vMix PC (i7 3770 with 32GB RAM and nvidia 970), but if I use multicorder to capture it it starts immediately to skip frames.
I record on a SSD drive and other signal (SDI 1080i50 from BMD HD Extreme) is OK.
The laptop is an i7 4700HQ with 16GB Ram and nVidia 750m

I tried a lot of different codecs, SDI input is always fine and NDI input always skip frames continuosly...

Any hint ?

Thank you

Stefano

Hi

not absolutely sure but quite : if you look at your desktop capture program while running you will see that it adapts constantly in terms of fps to the nature of the content it captures.

It won't produce a 25fps for a static image if 2 fps is enough for example
If your PPT contains a video (which is a bad idea btw) then Desktop Capture will stream to vMix at 25 or 30 fps depending on your settings

Yes, I think this could be the problem...
So it would be nice to have the possibility to "lock" the fps in desktop capture to guarantee a fixed frame rate.
I think I'm not the only one using desktop capture for PPT presentations in vMix, and the ability to record it would be a time saver for postproduction of conferences...

Thank you

Stefano

Hi Stefano,

Despite the dropped frames, does the recording playback fine?
Sending duplicate frames would just increase CPU usage, but ultimately the recording should play back the same.

Martin
