I know this is a long shot, but if I don't ask, it will definitely never happen!

I have a SteelSeries Apex 350 Gaming Keyboard

This keyboard uses the SteelSeries Engine to utilize an additional 26 Macro Keys on the keyboard. MX1-MX10, M1-M12, and L1-L4 buttons are not recognized as possible shortcut keys. The Media keys and Normal keys all work as expected.

L1-L4 are typically used to select different color layouts for the keyboard, but are also programmable as macro Keys.

I would like to request support for the Steelseries engine.

Thanks for your consideration!

+1

Though I'm considering an X-keys XK-60, the SteelSeries Apex 350 would fit my needs. It's half the price.

No, This particular keyboard has 5 color zones if I recall correctly, The left Macros, the upper function key/macros, the main keyboard, the number keypad/media keys, and the SteelSeries logo, and edge lighting.

My MSI gaming laptop also uses the SteelSeries engine, and has 4 zones. Left keyboard, Mid keyboard, right keyboard, and front edge lighting. There are just a couple special keys on that system.

On https://steelseries.com/engine on the `Grab Your Gear and Let's Go!'
animation I can see it switching ammo level and headshot changes colour.

I have an old Cherry keyboard that has 10 banks of 24 macro keys.
Generically it would be very useful if vMix would support Macros.

The macro sequence could start with an M and then the user defined key -

M,A effectively adding another shifted state.

It looks like a real bargain especially down under -

Although support for macros and this type of keyboard may provide some added benefits in vMix, I think overall, the keyboard is less efficient as control surface compared to other options like MIDI or XKeys devices since the keyboard is tied to the 'active' window on the PC which makes "Shortcuts" inaccessible when used outside of the vMix main UI.
I am not opposed to such support but I think someone's resources would be better spent on an external device than on a fancy keyboard.
Just my thoughts.

Having a keyboard tied to an active window probably would be a negative, and could cause issues.

My interest is the potential for 26 additional keys for Shortcuts. That means one keyboard instead of a keyboard and a MIDI/X-keys for more desktop space.

It's appearance isn't important to me. It could look like my old IBM Model M clicky keyboard as long as it had 26 additional keys.
