I'm working on ice hockey production and in these days I will try to broadcast live on Youtube in 4K.
Next match will be Thu 29 Dec
My hardware now:
- Processor I7-5820K
- Motherboard MSI X99A MPower
- 2x8GB 2133mhz ram
- MSI GTX 960 OC 4GB ram
- Corsair 750w power supply
- 256GB SSD Samsung EVO850 pro for the system
- 1TB SSD SanDisk Extreme pro for replay recording
- 480GB SSD SanDisk for PGM recording
- 1x Blackmagic Decklink DUO 2
- 1x Blackmagic mini recorder
- 1x Blackmagic Decklink Studio 2
- 60/60 Mbps connection

I will upgrade my system with 2 Decklink Mini Recorders 4K so I can ingest 3840x2160p/25 from my JVC HM200 cameras using HDMI.

Can you suggest wich Graphics card can handle 4k and FFMPEG encoding?

Until now my production was 4 sdi 720/50p cameras with instant replay but sometimes I can see that the videos on the monitor are not very smooth and looking on render times sometimes goes up to 16-18ms.

Is GPU related?

@ rinaldo

4K has many challenges as it is 4 times the resolution of HD.
I highly recommend watching the 4K recording of the "vMix Fun Time Live Show" from a few months ago to get some perspective on those challenges and what they did to mitigate them...
Certainly the new NVidia 10 series of GPU's are strongly encouraged.
Keep us all posted as to how you make out.

Keep us posted on this, as it will be fun to follow to see what works with 4K and ice hockey...

Rinaldo,
I doubt it's GPU related. Your system has in theory power with good margin for 4x720p.

My guess it's the X99 chipset that mess things up. The problems you describe mimic the same as I have. See vMix support's topic on the X99 problems. Sorry to say, but I think you can forget 4k this year.

But if you want to make a bet, I would have chosen a GTX 1080, at least 1070.
