I'm wondering what the secret is behind getting smooth ndi playback. Cause i experience a stuttering image in my tests on the home gigabit network. If i transfer files I get a speed of around 115 MBs wich should be around a gigabit. The audio stutters aswell from certain streams.

I installed vmix on my Macbook pro retina for the tests:

2,5 GHz Intel Core i7
16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M 2048 MB

And i tried to share the screen of my htpc wich is a single core i5 with no graphics card.
i also tried of my imac wich is a quadcore i5

Anyone got any troubleshooting tips?

What applications are you trying to use? A NDI Desktop capture tool?

If you use something like NDI Connect or playback of clip using VLC Player with the NDI plugin, does that playback smoothly?

I've not used the vMix desktop capture tool myself, nor vMix so I can speak for them personally.

If you use the VLC Player tool and NDI monitor does it work? I use VLC Player to play clips into TriCaster or NDI Monitor all the time with great results.

I know you said you did a performance test, but just to verify, all of your network interfaces are showing up operating at gigabit speeds? One thing to try is forcing the NIC speed to only work at gigabit speed. You don't have jumbo frames turned on? If you do turn it off.
