While this is not a foundational feature I do think it would be a revolutionary one for live and recorded production when integrated in this way.....especially live productions.....it would truly be amazing ..... it would take a fair amount of horse power for some and not too much for others...vMix would be the innovator at the top of the creative side of the list ..... I do believe this is a natural consolidation...

Build a plugin interface in vmix to allow for the use of video fx type plugins such as I use in my NLE ...

I don't think that's possible. Most of them don't even render realtime. Directshow filters could be an option though, that would be cool :)

I use Premiere pro and it renders all but the most demanding plugins in realtime with H264 25mgb rate footage smoothly with no problems on my laptop which is just a moderately spec'd machine(low end gaming). This is certainly doable on some level for moderate to fast hardware and easier if your just recording a show.
Cheers Tye

It's doable for premiere, who take advantage of cuda, and developed a whole engine.

Most hardware switchers have dve effects on inputs or master....simple ones of course like time effects.fades strobe and studder...frame delays ...not to CPU intensive

Maybe this plugin standard is a possibility, some of the basic ones may work realtime, forget 4K. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OpenFX_(API)Being more realistic I'd like to see an additive mix function, maybe soft light, hard light etc in the keyer control. Custom wipes as a transition effect using a user created matt clip source that transitions from black to white is already possible but tricky to setup and use. Similar to a stinger but it keys the pgm / pv sources.

I use a lot of effects in several editors with a low to mid graphic card and a surprising number of them are not that resource intensive and some are crippling...but just having some of these for live work......fantastic! It would be worth it to me even if as an upgrade with a high performance graphics engine bolted on .... for CUDA etc
