The problem is finding something that can plug into a computer. If there were a USB tally lights system available or someone willing to build one it would definitely be supported by vMix.

I have put some requests through to tally light vendors including metasetz to see if something can be supported.

A very basic custom solution could be built with the following:
USB cable to 3x small tally light boxes with two lights on each (Green for active, Red for preview)
The cost for this set would be $300. Which is the cheapest it could be done for. If anyone is interested please post in this thread. An order will be made if at least 5 people are interested.

He !
The costs are not the problem. But only 3 tally lights are... For me a preview light is not neccesarry. Is it possible to make a 6x red tally light solution ?

$300? looooool (where`s the worldest crisis?... ahahahahahah)
in my oppinion, when in a production (deppending on the production) are envolved only 2 or 3 cameras (max.) is not so necessary tally lights. if tally lights support can up to 5 or 6 cameras the mixing producer can think a little about before mixing, if some person need to interact with spectators (for example)...
however, tally lights support is important if it can be purchased like a plugin for vmix.

Daan,
More than one kit of tally lights could be used at once with vMix, limited only by the amount of USB ports you have available. So if you buy two, 6 tally lights could be used.

As an update, I have been working on a prototype tally light system.
For those that need the tally light, do you need them to notify the cameraman or is it mainly for the performer's benefit?

$300 is the best possible price.
These tally lights will be supported in vMix 2010 v9 (all editions, including Basic)

It's very possible that I might need up to 100' of cable to the camera. Will the tally signal travel that far?

These tally lights were superseded by the new smart phone tally lights described below: http://www.vmix.com.au/help12/TallyLights.htmlIt turns out it is cheaper to buy cheap smart phones then it is to manufacture tally lights! Regards, Martin vMix

Sorry for my english .... If anyone interested , I'm building a system to tally lamp is very similar to this : http://www.metasetz.com/category/tally-lights/1 Use the USB port and allows you to control 6 tally lamp for 6 cameras . - On the computer will be connected to a box with 8 ethernet ports ; - At cameras will be installed boxes that contain : 1 ) Green LED that indicates the correct power supply; 2 ) Yellow LED when the camera is in preview ; 3 ) Red LED when the camera is live . 4) jack for connecting headphones; 5 ) Jack for microphone connection . On the front of the camera is placed another red LED to indicate who is at the front which is live . This LED can turn it off. All LEDs can be operated at high brightness ( for the events of the day ) and low light ( for night events ) . For the Audio section , is connected to a mixer that allows communication between all opertatori and directing. Operators use the classic headphone with microphone for PC. All signals , both of which tally lamp sound system , traveling over a single Ethernet cable . The maximum length of cable that I could test and found no problems is 80 meters. The system is still being realized , but from the tests I did and works fine , except the audio section by the operators towards the direction , the mixer I have for the tests does not work with microphones capsule headphones. This problem has to be solved. It 's based on the Arduino platform .

Regards, Martin vMix The problem of the mobile is the maximum length wifi especially if there are obstacles or interference and the battery life of the mobile, in addition to the physical placement on the cameras. As an alternative, however, is very good.
