Hi there,

I've managed to recover from a show-stopper last week by de-installing/re-installing vMix and AFMLE but I've no idea what caused the following problem:

I ran one weekly show flawlessly. Then, while building the vMix show for the next show, discovered AFMLE could see the vMix audio but not the video "device." It wouldn't even appear as a choice in the AFMLE drop-down menu.

I checked all configuration settings and even loaded the working settings from the previous week's show. The "vMix Video Device" checkbox was always checked.

Of note: I had added an AverMedia Game Broadcaster HD which was perfectly recognized as a capture input within vMix and, when vMix wasn't running, within AFMLE.

I have no idea what I may have done within vMix to break that pipe. Thoughts?

I managed to get the show webcast by pre-recording the show to a file and streaming the file later. (That's an excellent fallback, by the way.)

Thanks, in advance, for any advice that will help me avoid this failure in the future.

Regards,

Michael

Hi Michael,

Not sure why the vMix Video device went missing, haven't seen that happen before but re-installing vMix will
work to bring it back if it ever goes missing.

Martin

Hi Martin,

Yep, I tried that yesterday with success. Thanks.

Here's some more data that might help sort this out in the future.

I don't believe the failure was caused by the capture card installs. I installed two Game Broadcast HD cards yesterday and everything worked just fine.

I *was* able to replicate the failure when I installed Wirecast For YouTube. As before, AFMLE could not see the vMix video but could see the audio. All it could see was the Wirecast device and the two input cards. It appears Wirecast superseded the vMix virtual camera device.

Uninstalling Wirecast did not fix the situation.

However, reinstalling vMix over the top of itself righted the error again. (And, all my configuration settings are retained. Bonus.)

Hmmm...

Hi!

I have the same problem in newest version (11.0.0.63)!

In streaming window:

Selected video input device: [name of build camera]

I wish I have:
Selected video input device: vMix Video.

After reinstall vMix, I have, what I wished.

I uses vMix once a week, and I need reinstall it one a week ... :(

David

PS. Bad English - I know, sorry.

?

Same problem over here (also in version (11.0.0.64). There is no virtual vMix video device in Windows 8. It worked for a week or so, but whatever i do (reinstall etc) i can't get the virtual device back (so makes vMix useless because no other program can use it as an input).

Any ideas?

regards,

marcel

Make sure you are using the latest installer here:

http://www.vmix.com.au/download.aspx

Also make sure all programs including Skype etc are completely closed before installation.
If the vMix installer brings up an error message during install, a program is still open.

There are also some known programs such as Wirecast that erase all virtual cameras on a system when installed.

Martin
