I cannot scroll through my inputs fast enough during a live show if I have a lot. The ability to unpin the inputs and place them on a second monitor is a necessity.

@ mikekay

Several options available aa a "workaround" for such high number of input productions.

1. Using the Category tabs
2. Using a Control Surface and/or "Shortcuts" to quickly switch between Inputs.
3. Using the web interface for a "fuller" screen of input buttons

These options may help in a fast paced environment, but may not be a perfect solution if visual confirmation of the 'readiness' of an Input is absolutely necessary.

I agree! I have a very large number of inputs as a result of using 4K sources in 1080p productions and setting up several virtual inputs for each - with different regions of interest (different field sizes within the 4K image).

Add to that collection of stills and videos, lower thirds, etc...and there just isn't enough screen real estate to manage everything.

It would be great if one of the Full Screen multiview options was inputs only.

Thanks in advance, Martin. ;-)

Now that I've attached my 4K monitor and unpinned the audio mixer - displaying it in a separate window, and seen that you can have separate windows open for overlay and other functions too, I'm dying to make better use of the available screen real estate to see more than 32 inputs at a time (without scrolling).

Because of the way that the main Vmix window is currently constructed, the number of inputs and the size of the preview and program monitors shrink and grow together as you change the size/aspect ratio of the window. So, if you desire to see more than four rows of inputs (32), you have to increase the size of the window vertically - only. Unfortunately, I don't have any screen real estate left to do that. I do see almost half of the 4K monitor's real estate still available horizontally, but without the ability to separate the inputs portion of that window from the rest of the interface, I can't do that.

It would be great if we could "unpin" the inputs section in the same way that we can with the audio mixer and expand it horizontally - from 8 columns x 4 rows (32 visible inputs) to 15 columns x 4 rows (60 inputs visible).

And, in order to prevent constantly bringing the active window to the front, unintentionally, the act of unpinning the inputs section might automatically shrink (up) vertically to just under the preview and program monitors.

Thoughts, Martin and others?

Thanks.

-David

David I'm intrigued, what sort of production are you doing that you need more than 32 inputs?

@David

You know as a workaround you can adjust the size of the Preview & Output windows to show more lines of inputs, right? You can also increase the resolution of your monitor to show more desktop real estate.

I have had over 150 inputs and use categories to layout all inputs. Using a midi device or UTC application to
control the production is more professional and faster then scrolling through inputs.
If you label them well you can switch between the inputs fast.

Wow James that's impressive, have you got a link to some footage so we can see all this in action?

That's cool, your full screen stats page is very impressive, who inputs it's data?

I'm initially developing a new corporate service offering around Vmix call. I'm also simultaneously preparing for larger multi-camera ballroom-based discussion panels that may or may not include vmix call. I'm standardizing on 4K cameras in order to have multiple regions of interest and live on-air zoom functionality (without camera people) among them. Add to that multiple NDI sources, images, video clips, each with multiple sources and field size - and you can imagine how easily that adds up. I'm trying to preset each element (including overylays) beforehand rather than decide on the fly - sort of like pre-programming effects memorys on a Grass Valley switcher - for highly formatted news production.
