It's pretty easy to build multi-layered inputs with the multi-view tag in the input settings dialogue. I often build my inputs as elements that appear in stacked inputs rather than switching them directly into the show. ie:

I'll;

o create an image input (video, imaage, photos, etc.)
o create a title input
o create a black colour input and layer the previous image and title over that
o create additional colour inputs and layer whatever I like over them.
o etc.

This gives me all the flexibility I need to build very complex shows.
