We are building a new audio setup using a presonus firestudio as our audio card. It is connected via firewire and we are attempting to use 3 of its outputs for monitor and mix minus. We noticed that when running 3 outputs using master in stereo, and output A in mono on a separate output channel. The first issue we encountered was distorted audio and had to decrease to 44.1 khz to fix it. Teh secon issue was a large delay between the audio input signal and the output coming out of the monitors. Video is fine, but the audio has a significant delay from source to monitor. Not sure how to solve this issue.

We are using Vmix 17 on an 8 core xeon processor, 16gb ram, nvidia quadro nvs 4000 gpu.

Hi,

First check the firestudio control panel to see if the sample rate is set to 48000, then change everything in vMix back to 48000 and then run a test.
The distortion sounds like the control panel is overriding the vMix setting.

As for the delay, can you estimate how long it is in milliseconds? vMix will delay audio to match video, but if being played alongside other speakers directly from the source
it will be more noticeable than the video, even if the delay matches.

Regards,

Martin

The delay we are getting is about 1.5 seconds. The video is ahead of the audio. I will attempt to fix the issue in the control panel.

We are still getting the 1.5 second delay between the studio monitors and the source. We were able to fix the distortion however by setting the device to 48.000.

In vMix click the i button under Master in the Audio mixer and check what the latency is for each of the outputs (in milliseconds).

Thanks, that confirms that the audio delay is not coming from vMix, not sure what it could be other than maybe
the audio console has some digital audio delay set on those inputs coming from vMix?
