NDI IsoCorder (currently) uses the SpeedHQ codec, which is a free download for Mac or Windows system at http://new.tk/dl At the bottom of the page is a link to the codec downloads.

Do be aware that some application do not use the standard Apple QuickTime libraries, in these cases installing the above codec will not help.

Hi Kane

Asked the question after I already downloaded and installed the NewTek Codec for Windows.
Still no luck. pretty clean windows 10 with vMix,vlc and mediaplayer and a pro videocoaching software.

Try Apple's QuickTime Player and see if it works. If it does, then you know the codec is installed and working, your issue is that those other applications aren't using the Apple QuickTime library.

VLC doesn't use Apple's QuickTime libraries. Not sure about vMix or those other applications. I would bet that vMix isn't either.

I believe there are plans to change the codec in a future release to something that looks more like QuickTime/XDCAM, which should increase compatibility with other applications since support for the Apple QuickTime libraries is being dropped in many software applications thru the industry.

Hello Kane,

this is very usefull information. Regarding the iso recorder the codec problem is a big pain for us. XDCAM HD, MJPEG, Grass Valley HQ codec can be a good solution... fingers crossed! :)

When (if) it goes XDCAM will help a lot. TriCaster is already recording in QuickTime in MOV/XDCAM, so many applications can read its files as long as they support XDCAM.

As more software moves away from using the Apple QuickTime libraries, codec issues will probably get a bit worse before they get better. If someone makes a QuickTime codec that will mean that the target application will need to directly add support for it or that some media library package (like FFMPEG) has added support for it.
