Greetings!

I've got an Ol' Macbook Pro early 2011 with Thunderbolt that I recently installed a new 500gb SSD drive and BootCamp with Windows 7 64bit.

After installing the legacy Magewell drivers the system rebooted and vMix now sees (4) each HDMI inputs! Yeah! My Ol'2011 Macbook is an i7 quad core, 15", 8g ram, and 2.2 ghz Intel processor. I'm planning on using one of the HDMI's as an output to an early Red Livestream Broadcaster box or some other encoder that will run on an output box. Is anybody using one of those new Chiwanize 1080p encoding boxes? How about some comments and a link to what cost effective solution you have found.

I have lots of success with this Mac/Win PCIe Thunderbolt Expansion Enclosure!

I use one on a Studio Windows 10 PC for 4 inputs and a BMD SDI 4 Port card for a total of 8 inputs! It runs on a ASUS Board, i7 Quad Core 4 ghz with a Dual Thunderbolt port PCIe card that works real well! I use LiveStream as my streaming provider so I output the signal to one of the HDMI ports and use another computer to run Livestreams Producer encoding software. The system runs very stable with 6 active inputs. Running 8 active inputs while Livestreaming causes skipping to occur occasionally! So a little less is ALOT better!

So now, taking FirmTek on the road, I can take The Glory Studio, http://theglorystudio.com , on the road and stream via 4g, if wifi is not available, using a 35dbi gain 4g antenna.

I'm really excited about our new mobile setup! Oh yeah, we dug an old Presonus FireStudio Mobile out of the back of the closet and have it hooked up via Firewire to the MacBook Pro. Now I have 2 mobile powered mic inputs and 6 other 1/4" inserts.

Oh yeah! Thunderbolt! FirmTek! Magewell! vMIX!!! Push your message to the World from Virtually ANYWHERE!

I hope these words are an encouragement for another brother that seeks to restore all things!

Thank you for sharing this.

We need to remember this FirmTek box not always works like everyone would expect. Read this http://forums.vmix.com/d....aspx?g=posts&t=6576

But I'm glad you recommended a setup that is ok with this device.

And BTW, I find Magewell cards extremely compatible with everything :) I was even able to run a 4channel SDI card in express card expansion box by Netstor and Dell Precison M4600 laptop @720 25p.
