vMix 9 is currently in development!

New Features

* RTSP support for Teradek Cube and other Network Camera sources that support H264 Video and AAC Audio
* Support for AverMedia Live Gamer HD
* Title Text Editor includes new Countdown setup options with Start/Pause/Stop and Duration
* Video Delay saved clips will automatically use the MultiView and position settings of the Video Delay
For example, a Title could be setup on top of the Video Delay saying "Instant Replay" and all saved clips will retain this graphic as well.

Most of the work is going into the RTSP feature to ensure reliable playback.
Teradek Cube will be the recommended device for this feature.

Small feature suggestions can be submitted here. Any major new feature requests will need to be be posted to the Feature Requests forum for additional discussion.

Thanks,

Martin

Hi Martin,

It's great to hear of the v9 development in progress!!

I would like to request a small change in vMix. I would appreciate it if you would lock the mouse to only moving within the program's main screen and not let it move into the second or output screen. This has confused our operators when the mouse pointer was on the output screen. I know you have a setting that makes the cursor disappear on the output screen, but this seems to add to the confusion. If it could be locked onto the main screen, this would be ideal.

Thanks again for this excellent software!

Tony

Great to hear! Looking forward to RTSP and the Avermedia support. I don't suppose RTSP inputs will support a video delay?

Excellent to hear about the updates, One small request would be to have the counter go up or down mainly due to my local soccer league which counter is up 00:00 to 90:00 and stops at 45:00 for half time.
Thanks for all your hard work!!

Hello,

Some small suggestions:

2. Add crop possibilities for multiview inputs. This would be very helpful when preparing a PIP view and capture inputs natively have black borders (often when using composite video input). Also the new overlay border feature could be introduced for multiview inputs. The next step would be border shadows, which would look really good in PIP views.

6. Seperate 32bit and 64bit version by installation file. If we want to use 64bit only, the default profile file association is always with 32bit version and after updating vMix it might also roll back to 32bit vMix, therefore creating some confusion and might lead to using the wrong version in some cases.

7. When loading photo folder input in a widescreen project, the default size of photo input is set as 1024x576 even though the images are actually 4:3. This creates problems when using the photo folder as overlay with borders in a PIP view. The borders go around 16:9 image and not the actual 4:3 image.

16. Add “Disable other inputs on Play” checkbox for video input to disable all overlays and other audio ainputs. This would be very useful for mixing advertisements to quickly remove overlays and other audio.

Regards,
Dundurs

Hi there,

I just started testing VM8 and am excited about the feature set. A feature request for your consideration:

o Add ability to sort/drag/order input clips at bottom of screen. As I understand thus far, the order of the clips is in the order they were created.

Thanks,

Michael

Here's another really valuable feature for your consideration:

I currently have discovered how VMix 8 Overlay buttons work. Very slick. I've figured out how to fake a DVE Transition with an alpha-channeled Overlay graphic and manual cut to a new program underneath. But, that method is prone to error in the heat of a live broadcast.

One major feature of big switchers is the DVE transition: the ability to cue an alpha-channeled video graphic over the live program that then automatically cues the preview program at a preset point in the graphic. So, instead of cueing with a fade or cut, you cue with the DVE graphic.

So, my feature request might read:

Add DVE transitions with choice of alpha-channeled videos;

o Perhaps, the transition is created as an input element.

o A timecode or frame number may be preset within the transition to automatically cut the preview video to the program video. By design, this would happen when the video's alpha channel is completely covering the frame.

o Assign the DVE input/transition to a transition button under the tradition transition buttons.

Done.

Thanks,

Michael

You can drag inputs around. Click on the main part of the input, the thumbnail, and drop it where you want it. You need to drop it on the input occupying the space you want to move it to, if you know what I mean.

I currently automate the fake overlay transition - see here: http://forums.vmix.com.a...osts&m=3417#post3417 The script there cuts to a particular input, but there's no reason it couldn't cut to the preview instead.

i whish for the upcoming version 9 :

recording in MXF file protocol, the industry standard.
then on the settings you choose the codec you want to use.
such as avid DNXHD , AVCINTRA, PRORES, and so on.....

vst audio plugins on the audio mixer, at least on the master bus.

floating image correction window , then, as you select a source. this way you dont waste time opening the window to adjust.....

vectroscope.

Best regards,

PFBM

What VST plugins in particular would you use in vMix?
Implementing VST support is a massive project and has the potential to cause big reliability issues.
If on the other hand there are only a handful of effects people are interested in then they can be added directly.

Martin

May I suggest taking a look at Acon Digital Media EffectChainer is a free DirectX and VST capable universal wrapper and multi-effect rack.

With EffectChainer you can load, edit and chain as many DirectX and VST plug-ins you want.

EffectChainer itself can be used as a plug-in in any host application supporting DirectX or VST.

I have used it in other program and found it to work very well.
