Hi, nOOb user here, with what is probably a simple question, but I haven't seen it answered in browsing the forum.

I am using the free vMix basic app, and really appreciate all its features and ease of use. I think I am ready to upgrade, likely to HD basic. I want to simultaneously record a program locally on the PC hard drive in HD resolution, say 720p, while simultaneously streaming to a site such as Ustream at a lower resolution (but still 16:9) compatible with the available uplink bandwidth. Is this possible and/or practical? I of course can't try that with the basic version.

TIA for any advice.

Hi,

The streaming (through FMLE) and recording features in vMix are separate so you can run both simultaneously if you like and in different resolutions.

Actually, the basic version can set different resolutions to both the streaming output and the recording outputs, just not HD resolutions. To change the external output resolution go to settings and then the external output tab. To change the recording resolution, go to the setup for recording. FMLE can also transcode to another resolution on the fly.
