Hi everyone,

I am experiencing a random visual glitch at the bottom of my computer monitor, a green flash, that occurs when I record and stream with vMix. I am using the latest version available (17.0.0.107) under Windows 10.

It does not seem to affect the quality of the output and the flash is not visible on the recorded video file.

Here is my setup, maybe it will give you guys a hint of what could be happening :

- ASUS Z97-A motherboard
- Intel Core i7 4790 3.6gHz 4 Cores / 8 threads
- 16Gb RAM
- ASUS GeForce GTX 1060 6GB Strix graphic card
- Black Magic Design Decklink Duo 2
- Black Magic Design Intensity Pro

I also have a FireWire Orange PCI card for compatibility with older devices (a Sony camescope I use for transferring Hi8 videos, and a Focusrite Saffire Pro 40 audio interface).

Has anyone ever experienced that type of visual glitch?

Thanks for any help!

Stephane

Hi Stephane,
Welcome to the forum!
It's always useful with an illustration, in this case of the glitch. I still frame or a screen shot.

Is the glitch on the monitor you are running vMix, or is it on an external monitor?

Without knowing enough, my best guess is that Window's taskbar might be showing (part of) itself.

Thanks Richard,

The fact that it is a green flash occuring randomly, it is quite difficult to capture it. It also does not show on the stream or the recorded video file, so I cannot provide an example. I'll try to film my screen with another camera not connected to the system.

It occurs indeed on the main monitor where vMix is running but not on the 2nd monitor I use to display the program.

I managed to capture the visual glitch by filming the monitor. You can see it happening here :
at about 00:00:02 and 00:00:28

I was not even recording or streaming, I just had one camera as a source in my Decklink Duo 2.

Any idea of what can cause this?

I can see that you are running vMix Desktop Capture, close it then see if the problem still occurs and be sure it is the latest one.

This might shed some light on the problem...

I slowed the YouTube video down to .25 speed and stepped it forward slowly until I got to the anomaly and took a screen cap. Then took a screen cap of a "normal" screen. See both below.

Now someone smarter than I can tell you what's going on. I'm guessing a video card driver glitch.

Hi Kamal,

The source you refering to is a local capture (not remote via NDI). I use the latest vMix 17 Pro .107. Removing desktop capture did not make a difference. The glitch still occurs. I do not think it is due to the graphic card, though, as I encountered the glitch both with the onboard graphics (Intel HD Graphics 4600) and an Asus GTX1060 STRIX 06GB GAMING card.

Next test I will do : 1) try another monitor, 2) change the monitor hdmi cable, 3) remove the deckling duo 2 card...

In the meantime if anyone has a hint for me it would be greatly appreciated! :)

Hello everyone!

Visual glitch was finally fixed with a factory reset of the monitor. The monitor is a LG Utrawide 29'' that has several mode presets (Cinema, Gamer, etc...) and one of the 'gamer' modes was the culprit. I also made sure to update the BMD video utility and drivers to the latest version. I also installed Windows 10 aniversary update. Did a 8 hour streaming/record session yesterday and my machine was very stable.
