I did some Googling and came up empty. Does anyone know what the data rate is for the MagicYUV codec? Let's say 1920x1080 at 30p. Thanks!

According to their site: "MagicYUV can compress videos on average from about 2.5:1 to 4:1 compression ratios, which is typical in this codec category. (Compression ratio charts and tests will be up on the site soon...)" In the realm of HD-SDI 1080i is approx 1.5 Gbps. That suggests MagicYUV would squeeze it to 375 - 750 mbps. Very rough of course, but at least it's a number. It's actually lossless, as opposed to NDI which is lossy. The trouble is that the bit rate will vary depending upon what you're encoding; 8 bit or 10 bit. What colorspace? MagicYUV supports quite a number of options.

I did a recording test with vMix using the MagicYUV codec. A 10 minute recording of 1920x1080 30p ended up being 17.5GB, so 60 minutes of recording, for one camera, would be 105GB. I didn't specify a colorspace however. DVE attached the following image(s): MagicYUV settings.JPG (48kb) downloaded 2 time(s). MagicYUV properties.JPG (42kb) downloaded 2 time(s).You cannot view/download attachments. Try to login or register.
