Why do you need to record the output with other software while you can record directly within vMix?

I usually record on a separate computer, sometimes using the Blackmagic realtime H264 encoder and into Media Express as any laptop can handle this. Or the BMD Hypershuttle or directly into Avid or Resolve. These are via SDI with embedded audio and hopefully soon to be the MAB mixes embedded. http://forums.vmix.com/d....aspx?g=posts&t=6666Why, to take some heat off Vmix but also this gives me the option of Prores and DNX that can be 10bit and are the native codecs for NLEs. I have noticed the option of the Cineform codec from Gopro in Vmix that is very good and no more computation requirements than H264 despite being fractal compression. Doing this, vMix then records an ISO or two. This is all not strictly necessary as vMix does a fine job of internal recording but I'm looking at running the realtimne 3D space Blufftitler along side so more reason to share resources. This app can texture map Vmix external 2 into the 3D model in realtime. It all adds up. Is vMix 10bit processing, I must run my banding torture test though it and find out ?

Normally when you want to send vMix video to another application, you set up and enable external output. Then just open the other application and see if it shows up as a camera input. It is quite the same as getting a webcam signal ingested.
