First of all, please apologise me for my English. Some weeks ago we have done a several Facebook live stream. We are sent out 720p25 signal at 2.5Mbit/sec. As I see well the Facebook Live ingest server transcode the ingested signal, but the transcoding quality is really poor in my opinion.
The question is: is there any format or workaround to disable Facebook live transcoding? For example ingest lower resolution, bitrate, anything. The transcoding is alwasy lower quality, the best usecase if I encode from the base video signal.
Guys, do you have any ideas for this? Thanks!

I came across the same problem and would also like to know a workaround or something that helps me achieve a better Facebook Live video quality.
Do I have to be a premium Facebook partner or something to get better quality? (if that even exists)

So, i'll just come out and say it, Facebook Live is utter garbage. Really shouldn't be used for anything more than basic bloggy types videos. We took a quick peek at the technology ourselves and decided it was too bad to risk splitting our viewer base to another service that isn't on par with the others.

I think the Facebook Live actually in beta stage. Our clients want to use it, so we can't ignore this request. We can do only one thing: trying to create better and better FB Live streams. That's why I opened this thread. Good to know other guys experience. :)

I gotta agree FB isn't the best for video but most companies have a FB page and if the're looking to promote that's normally where you'll find them. I think anyone in the business of offering live streaming services will need to get acquainted with FB soonner than later..

A. For my company it meant a boost of + 100% in sales. Especialy big brands with large Facebook fanbases really want this. For one of the biggest companies in my country, i could give them the best organic reach and engagement ever since the start of their Facebookpage with 1 Facebook live session. After the video has been livestreamed, you can always put a videofile on a youtube channel. Unless the video goes viral, the long tail of Facebook video is worthless anyway.
