vMix makes it very easy to connect a camera and start streaming & recording and it looks good sort of :-) At some point one needs to tweak settings and preferences assuming they have their purposes (allowing for the fact that Martin has set basic settings as a good starting point)
What are your experiences , preferences and why?
footage subject: often fast subject movement and/or panning
example situation
camera source pal 1920x1080i HDMI Capture card Startech USB3HDCAP
Camera Input: - Input: Default - does it makes sence to change that to HDMI? - Resolution 1920x1080 - Framerate Pal 50i - Interlaced checkbox ? (see card settings below) - Video Format : Default - does it makes sense to change ?
Now the capture card itself has settings options (Advanced Properties)
Custom Properties: Device: - Deinterlace: High Motion/ Low Motion/ Weave and BOB Fast (standard setting) - Data Transfer Pipe : Auto (standard) / Isochronous / Bulk Receiver: - HDMI EQ: 2 meter/ 10 Meter(standard) /15~20 Meter ( purpose ?) - HDMI Bandwidth: 50% / 75 % (standard) / 100% / 125% / 150% / 175% - Output color Range: Bypass(Standard so vMix can deal with this?) / Shrink 0~255 -> 16~235 / expand 16~235->0~255 - Other: Auto Phase (standard off) , value option 0~63 Driver: - auto resolution (checked standard) / frame rate adjustment etc
Recording: preferences 1280x720 for easy transfer, reasonable file size without re-editing and playback on multiple types of customers machines, average 1 minute clips :
Frame rate: 50i 50p 25p ? FFMPEG : Codec MPEG-2, MP4 ? Video Quality ? or MP4: Bit Rate? Profile?
Stream / external: Frame rate: 50i 50p 25p ? Application: FMLE or FFMPEG? Quality (1500 bit rate 1280x720): FMLE: profile? Level ? Keyframe frequency? autoadjust ? or FFMPEG: Profile? Level? Preset? keyframe frequency? Threads ? Network Buffer? Strict CBR? Keyframe Aligned?
Thank you Guy

If you can, bring the video in at 720p50 rather than 1080i50. (Assuming sport is the content) Set the master frame rate the same and record at that too. I record MPEG.ts @ 12 mb and get good results. MP4 is ok on win10 but is not fault tolerant. I stream using FFMPEG/AAC and data rate varies depending on bandwidth available.

Strange MP4 had no playback problem, MPEG did . in fact did not play at all in for example Windows Mediaplayer or had just statinary artifacts. must be missing something but even so if I didnt't a client could be Yes sports and windows 10
