We're using VMIX very often for video playback, it would be awesome to be able to remote vmix from any lightdesk over Art-Net.
For us a very basic interface would do the job.

For example:

Possibility to set Art-Net universe and starting channel offset 1-512 in the setup.

Example DMX/Artnet channels, starting from selected offset channel:

CH1 FTB (0-127 Inactive, 128-255 FTB active)
CH2 Select Preview (0 no Change, 1-255 select input 1-255)
CH3 Transistion (0 no function, 1-255 instant execution f. example 1-10 cut, 11-20 fade, 21-30 zoom, etc.)
CH4 Manual Bar Control 0 (Left) - 255 (Right)
CH5 Quickplay (0 no function, 1-255 select input 1-255 with instant execution)
CH6 Overlay 1(0 no function/disabled, 1-255 select input 1-255 with instant execution)
CH7 Overlay 2 (0 no function/disabled, 1-255 select input 1-255 with instant execution)
CH8 Overlay 3 (0 no function/disabled, 1-255 select input 1-255 with instant execution)
CH9 Overlay 4 (0 no function/disabled, 1-255 select input 1-255 with instant execution)

I think that would make VMIX a serious option for live playout in the entertaiment industry.

Hey marc!

I was looking for that option too and since vMix got MIDI-Support i was able to working around and
added my own solution:

First you need this little tool:
Art-Net 2 MIDI

- In settings you have to set the IP Adress of the machine which runs Art_Net2MIDI tool (normally the vMix machine).
- get MIDI LoopBack driver: like this one (loopBe1).
- now you can configure vMix by Shortcuts it works very well... except that you need a whole channel for each input because
the midi range 0-127 does not match 8-bits of DMX 0-255.

I've set one channel (say MIDI CC: CH1 Note 97) to control

1: the volume of the active input
2: the alpha of the active input
3: restart(reset) the input when get "0"

I've driven serveral shows with this setup very well (playbacks, images, visuals).

BTW:

There's one thing I'd love to see in further release:
A possibility to configure MIDI-Feedback. So if you have a controller like the Behringer X-Touch you can see the status by LED's.

Best regards, Denny

Hi Denny,
That sound's interesting, I'll have a look at it when I have a moment for it! Anyway it would be good for stability reasons to have a native support and the second thing is that the last production we had included 36 playbacks, a main and a backup machine... so this is getting quite complex to manage :)

Thanks! Cheers
Marc

Sure, I'm totally with you! Best is to have it native.

Anyway DMX support is requested since 2012 a view times but nothing changed except MIDI-Support which is a huge step
in the right direction xD
