I'd like to see the ability to set a thumbnail in inputs where the first frame is blank, so it shows black when viewing the input within the vmix system. This would make video clips and motion graphics much easier to recognize during fast paced productions.

You can already sort of do this. For the video, set "Automatically restart with transition". Now select the video in preview and drag the slider to the right until you have a nice recognizable frame. This will also be visible in the input and multiview.
When the video is started, it will start from the first frame or in-point.

What setting determines if it starts from the beginning or the in point you've selected? And wouldn't you have to repeat this process each time the video is played?

@ JimJacobs

Once you select a "Mark In" point (right click of Play Head in either Preview or Program window), vMix will always use that as the start point of that particular video input (until you change it again).
Subsequently, you need to determine what happens when you transition to that video input (i.e. "Automatically restart with transition" or not within the cog wheel Settings/General).
If you would prefer to keep the original 'Blank' start point, you can do as Mathijs suggests and just adjust the slider for each video input for the visual confirmation (which would have to be done each time). The biggest issue with that is that you may get a 'frame flash' of that point in the video before it 're-starts' and plays once you transition to "Program".

Hope that helps.

Thanks Ice...thus the reason for the feature request. As a former tricaster user, you can do this in Tricasters by essentially doing a frame grab within each video input that becomes what you see in the input window, but when you put the clip in preview or straight to output it obviously starts at the black first frame without glitches. Nice feature and very useful, especially in fast paced sports productions.

Agreed, it would be a beneficial feature for those with that need.
