Using my non-compliant Dell Inspiron 1521 / AMD Turion 64X2 2.20Ghz, 4GB RAM, ATI Radeon X1270, Windows 7/32 and the latest vMix 17 Desktop Capture (17.0.0.71) I still get all black inputs on a 2nd PC running vMix 17.0.0.91 and a new error message. Am I just non-compliant or is there an issue? - Tom sinc747 attached the following image(s): vMix 17 Desktop Capture error meesage2.JPG (19kb) downloaded 1 time(s). vMix 17 Desktop Capture error meesage.JPG (37kb) downloaded 1 time(s).You cannot view/download attachments. We're working with NewTek on compatibility for ancient laptops like this, no ETA at this stage on when it might be ready.

Had to revert to the compition and their vers of desktop capture this past Friday as neither vers 17 desktop capture or NDI tools would work with a particular presenters laptop. ( i now have a usb thumb drive containing original vers16 and pre- NDI desktop capture downloads on it in my kit, just in case ) been a long time since I used that wirycaster program 😈...

This occurred on my desktop PC running Win7. Been working fine for 18 months and this error message has come out of the blue all of a sudden. Can anyone explain what happened and how to get desktop capture working again?

Recently vers 17 was updated to run a different linking protocol to connect between devices. NDI.
NDI capture needs to run with processors that match a certain criteria. If your PC doesn't match that spec, chances are it will not run the newer desktop application.
The NDI desktop capture app is not compatible with the older vers of vmix and vers17 Vmix is not compatible with earlier (non NDI )vers of desktop capture.
It's a shame the newer release doesn't cater for both old and new vers of capture s/ware, But I understand things move on as better technology presents itself.
So far it's the one and only drawback I've found to NDI. ( although the pro's more than outweight this con ) if you can run the NDI vers.
If you need desktop capture on non compliant NDI PCs then i believe you need revert back to vmix vers 16.
A.

If memory serves, we had this error message appear without downloading anything new. Once I saw the message I downloaded v17 which obviously did not correct the problem. Have since deleted v17 and desktop capture & reverted back to v16. So far so good. What puzzles me is how that NDI error message appeared simply upon opening our original desktop capture.
