Hello guys,
really wondering if vMix is able to manage :
- in input, several 360° video streams, which are in a 4096 x 2048 (2:1 ratio with a 4k resolution)
- in output, and sent in RTMP, the master in the same 4096 x 2048 dimensions

It's for a live 360 production, where the viewers can live the event on a Gear VR or a Cardboard.

thanks for your help !

Benjamin

Hey,

any news on this?

I read in the streaming idiots facebook group that it should be possible somehow but I'm challenging 1. quality and 2. Return on invest (for good quality 360° cameras I doubt that the user experience is worth the invest) especially if you can't switch from and to "normal" video sources.

You can use Vmix to do a 360 webcast to cut camera and add graphics no problem. You just have to make sure all your content is pre-warped and corrected for a equirectangular projections.

So your camera will have to output a stitched feed. With the Samsung Round 360 you have to stitch on another system. It then outputs the 2:1 aspect ratio video using a BMD 12g sdi output for each eye, but it stretches the 2:1 to 16:9 (filling H/V). When you upload to youtube you just set up for stream as 360 VR when setting it up and youtube then scales the video to fit the VR360 space.

You can use Photoshop to create PIPs and other overlays by applying the equirectangular projection to the image then exporting that for vmix to use.
