I have been trying to bring in local desktop captures of MS office applications, but they are not coming in properly (17.0.0.83, Windows 10)
I get a mostly white screen with one or two user interface elements.

This is happening with Word, Powerpoint, Outlook, etc.
Local desktop captures of Photoshop, Camtasia, etc are all working fine, so this seems to be limited to MS Office.
Full screen desktop (display 1) shows normally, and if MS Office apps are open, they display on the full screen input... so the problem appears to be limited to using single window MS Office inputs.

Any ideas?

This is a Windows 10 OS issue, as per discussion with Martin and Newtek...

If a program is developed with

WPF Program (captures OK),
.NET Program (captures OK),
UWP Program (doesn't capture properly)

most windows 10 apps are UWP, which explains why they do not capture properly,
work around is to do a full screen capture and crop the screen capture of the application not working.

Office 2016 is a UWP Program to my knowledge..

Til a fix in Windows 10 OS...

Hope this helps..

BTW

New Version of NDI released today

This version adds the following functionality to the NDI SDK.

• Full support for OS/X, Linux sending, finding and receiving.
• Support for asynchronous video sending.
• Multi-threaded compression and decompression.
• (Enabled at higher resolutions where it has a net benefit).
• Improvements in codec performance.
• Support for receiving low bandwidth preview streams.
• Ability to specify that you only want to receive progressive video if you are working with an
application that does not natively work with fields.
• Utilities for supporting 16-bit interleaved audio.
• Significant improvements to the included NDI tools.
• A good number of bug fixes and performance improvements.

Downloaded the new SDK today and will try it out to see if it resolved the issues...

Full screen capture won't work in my case as the application Windows I need to display will typically be behind the Vmix window (that needs to maintain focus)

Hopefully this will get resolved.

Alan, another workaround, buy a cheap second monitor for the desktop capture. Or do a capture from a second PC via NDI.

Ask,

The second monitor is already in use fo the full screen output.
Using a second computer is an option but it really complicates matters, and eats up a "camera" input via NDI (which is a problem where my use has only a basic HD license and is usin 3 webcams), whereas local capture does not.

So, fortunately this is not urgent, and hopefully a fix will be forthcoming.

Tried the new SDK files, still doesn't fix the issue.

Another way of doing it to use 2 pieces of hardware to fake a monitor..

- A USB to HDMI adapter
- A display emulator for digital video interfaces that fits discreetly into your computer.

Available here at

http://headlessghost.com/

then open application on the fake monitor and do a full screen capture and crop out what is not needed...

Or. a bit more flexible, a Displaylink adaptor or monitor, supported natively in Windows. http://www.displaylink.com/products/usb-adapters

This solution creates a fake monitor... So you can use full screen capture solution....
Cheapest solution without using another monitor...

Ideal solution would be a video card that supports multiple monitors like the GTX 750TI or the GTX 980TI or the GTX 1080TI.

I use the Gigabyte GTX 750TI with 4 monitors plus the Blackmagic Intensity Pro 4K for External ouput for a total of 5 monitors...

Another work around solution is to use Display Fusion

https://www.displayfusion.com/

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zRsnzdO8Gyk

So if you use a 4K TV as a monitor you can split the screen into many monitors as you wish.

eg.

4 1920x1080 1080p screens or

- full screen capture
- create 4 1080p virtual inputs
- crop each virtual inputs

9 1280x720 720p screens

- full screen capture
- create 9 1080p virtual inputs
- crop each virtual inputs
