During a livestream broadcast, at about the 3 hour mark, vMix 16 was not able to mix between cameras or anything else. I couldn't even perform a proper close and had to restart Windows 7. Is there a log file or something to send to figure out what happened?

Thanks

I would start by looking at the windows event viewer. Scroll down to the date and time and see if there was something logged before the system froze. Look at the application logs and the system logs.

You can also use tools like memtest86 to check you memory and prime95 on torture mode to check system sanity.
Also look at what power supply is within the system, what kind of quality, max power it can give and how old it is. Power supply's fail. They have capacitors in them that get a lot of stress, It is not a matter of if they fail, but when.

Hi,

What sort of capture card is being used?

Mathijs is right to suggest looking into some potentially faulty hardware, as being unable to close a program, even from Task Manager
means a Kernel (Driver) resource can't be freed, usually indicating a driver issue of some kind.

Regards,

Martin

Thanks. The equipment is currently in transit to the next venue, but the weird thing is that I used the system the next day and continuously streamed for 6 hours with no issues. I'll check the event log this weekend.

Also, I'm using the Magewell 4 port Sdi card.

Is there a UPS in your setup? A power glitch can also cause that kind of error to occur.

No, but that is a good question. I was broadcasting on the beach with a 100 foot power run to the 12ft announcing tower. The power was coming from the Hotel landscaping, but I'm thinking that I had dirty power.

Can very well have been the problem. Just get yourself a nice UPS that has enough power to power the PC and some other things, but is not too heavy.
If it can keep you going for 10 minutes with a power outage, that is enough.
