Hi all;

I have a church client that wants to time delay their live HD feed for about 4 minutes, then pass it through their fiber to another location for a delayed simulcast.

Will Replay do this; that is store and forward live content by a pre-determined delay time?

What can do this

Thank you,

HWL

There is a Video Delay input available. I don't use it myself and am not near my vMix PC to be able to check out the options. But I know you can delay your live video and record the feed. The options for the delay are in seconds so I'm not sure if you will be able to hit the 4 minute mark that you are trying to get.

Before replay I used VLC to give me a delay feed to playback to my audience. You can stream the feed in to VLC and then scrub back in the timeline and play from any chosen point. I haven't done this in a while but you should be able to easily get a delay of that length. That would be the no cost solution.

There is also a video delay option (not a video delay input) buried in the properties for a capture input, with an accompanying delay for audio in the Audio Settings window. I don't believe vMix's GUI will allow you to choose 20 minutes delay, but if you had enough RAM you could theoretically buffer enough video to do a delayed simulcast without needing to deal with files written to disk and transferring over IP. Might be worth seeing if this helps your needs...

On the VLC approach, where do I set the delayed playout Output card?
Thanks

Back then I just ran VLC on a secondary monitor and split that feed to a Jumbotron with a VGA to Composite converter. I don't know if you can select a specific video output.

BETech's solution will work fundamentally the same while keeping all the output options available with vMix.
