See the attached screen shot. I am using 17.0.0.76. All NDI inputs are not populated with video/audio/whatever but are blacked out. If any are selected and added as inputs, they appear as black inputs in the input section. This is on a dual-core 2.20Ghz Windows 7 Dell Inspiron laptop with 4GB RAM and ATI Radeon X1270 graphics. Yes, underpowered is an understatement. But I am exploring the limits especially using older hardware. (But it has been upgraded from a 1.6Ghz CPU!) Any ideas? - Tom sinc747 attached the following image(s): blank ndi.JPG (78kb) downloaded 4 time(s).You cannot view/download attachments. Try to login or register.

Tom, Can you try turning the firewalls on both computers off? I have seen this before and it went away, I thought after some changes to the firewall.. Andrew

Firewalls were my problem, and if I recall correctly, the Windows should not be minimized.

Turned all firewalls off and rebooted both PC's, but no joy. In fact vMix 17 on the laptop crashed three times. See message below. Laptop CPU use was 20% and Memory use was 1GB according to Window Task Manager. sinc747 attached the following image(s): vmix stop.JPG (44kb) downloaded 3 time(s).You cannot view/download attachments. Tom, I've got the same, exact laptop. I get really high CPU and render readouts on it with vMix17. Older laptops like these are just too underpowered to utilize vMix17 w/NDI. ~George

OK. Remove vMix from the chain. Use NDI Scan convertor and NDI Monitor to ensure that you are receiving a signal. Also make sure that windows knows you are on the same network. Private Network and Files and devices discoverable. Allow the apps through the firewall. If you can then get a result. You can then bring up vMix on the receiving PC.

Tom, You did make sure, that the NDI inputs are visible on other (more powered) PC in the same network, right?
I would check the NDI monitor too.

Thank guys!
Update...
NDI Video Monitor will not run on this laptop. Crashes right after starting. NDI Test Patterns will not run. Crashes right after starting. NDI Scan Converter will not run. Loads with an error message. When I use it to scan a browser, the SC crashes.
All other PC's here in the studio see each other's sources/outputs with no issues.
I am concluding that this laptop is not compatible with NDI. (Duh!)

Upgrade to Windows 10 :) OK, but seriously, I was able to run NDI Video Monitor on Windows 10... tablet. With Atom Z3735F processor and built in GPU (some simple Intel HD Graphics) http://cpuboss.com/cpu/Intel-Atom-Z3735F

Alas, this laptop is not Windows 10 compatible. But, then again, neither am I as I so clearly state in this video:

One quick tip... Sometimes when starting NDI Video Monitor you receive an error message "Unable to start Audio Renderer"(or similar). If this happens it is usually because the windows system does not see an active default sound device. So just plug in a set of headphones and all works.
Yes Tom this doesn't help with the old Dell. I have the same issue as you with some of my older PC's...so much for repurposing!

I am concluding that this laptop is not compatible with NDI. (Duh!) Hi Tom Does the laptop have 2 graphics eg intel and nvidia? If it has nvidia as well try going into the control panel and telling the each NDI app exe to use the Nvidia card instead of the inbuilt Intel if this is case you are getting error on opening the app regarding OpenAL or similar graphics error. I was apple to open the NDI app after assigning to the nvidia card on one of my old laptops) regards James

@ James,
My old Dell uses a ATI Radeon X1270 graphics adapter, so, no joy. But that's okay. I have the trusty ASUS ROG to fall back on.

This from Martin in another thread: "For NDI thumbnails showing black, these are updated every few seconds or so and may take some time to update on some systems. However if they are always black then it usually means the source does not support NDI. (perhaps due to an old processor)"
