Greeting.

I have read forum topic and documentation but i still can't understand - what does "TS over UDP"?
For example i have a multicast, streaming from edgeQAM Teleste luminato (udp://225.10.10.10:1234). Is it transport stream - yes, is it over UDP - yes, but does not work. I wrote in port field "1234", connecting my PC (with 1 NIC) directly to edgeQAM, used different codec, channels, bitrate. Don't work.
So, please, explain me what really this term means? What protocols, what equipment supports this features? And can i use somehow multicast from example with vmix?

Thanks and sorry for my english.

UDP is the transport layer https://en.wikipedia.org...i/User_Datagram_Protocol
TS is the container that travels over the transport stream. https://en.wikipedia.org...ki/MPEG_transport_stream

They know what the protocols mean.

They are asking what the specifications are for vMix's implementation because they can't receive video from their Luminato QAM into vMix.

you answered your own question.

"multicast"

I have mentioned several times in feature requests for this, but no real response. the ability to read multicast streams would be HUGE and open up a huge new market for vMix. No other product is doing this. If you work with DVB and Cable distribution you know what I am talking about.

vMix is SOOO close, I cannot see that it would be difficult at all to bring in multicast, ffmpeg and VLC do this very easily, and hardly different from the uni-cast streams that vMix can already do. We have to jump through a bunch of hoops and have a lot of expensive equipment that would be unnecessary if we had multicast. A boy can dream can't he?

Please Martin :-) (BTW I can give you the FFMPEG string to generate a DVB type multicast from vMix if you need it to test with.)

My mini soap box of the day,

Steve
