Movi Camera LinkAnyone know if this camera can be incorporated into a vMix system. There isn't much information out about it and Livestream has traditionally created hardware that is proprietary to their system. The concept looks interesting. Kelvin

My guess is no. It is a (cool) product from Livestream, and afaik only streams via their service. There is no point in mirriring what can be sent to the control app, as it is only for control - not monitoring.
Most likely other will develop similar products.
On the other hand, with a single 4K camera and a 4K video input card you can do similar things with vMix 4K. Although not follow a face, but a lot of other things instead.

I've been checking out that camera. I really don't see how making cutouts of a 4k image will be beneficial. Even on a small budget 2 or 3 hd camera's would always be cheaper and produce better results. In the end you there's not many situations I can come up with, where different framing makes for a better result. It's more the angles that make a livestream or captation interesting to watch in my opinion.

Very cool integration of available technology... Compact and discrete (looks to be smaller than a GoPro) with Facial motion tracking and sampling a 4K image to use the parts thereof (in whole or in part) for a 720p stream, controlled with your iPhone. Absolutely brilliant! Too bad it's only for Livestream clients, and much like their "Broadcaster" cameratop encoders, it's really only focused on 'single' camera productions. I think the ideas and technology would have a lot of potential for webcasting in general if it were not proprietarily "closed" by the 'Moguls' at Livestream.

Those on a budget are much better off buying something like the Canon R60 ($239 on Amazon) and a Magewell dongle ($299) and use the laptop you already have to create an amazing full HD production with vMix!
Cropping such a tiny 4K sensor isn't going to look that great in my opinion. I always have to laugh when I see ads for these types of products where the video "seen" by the product was actually shot with a professional digital cinema camera and then heavily post produced with film like color grading!

I agree wholeheartedly that vMix has so much more to offer, but I admire how they are implementing available technology into attractively priced products and then marketing them to consumers as "THE" solution to all their 'webcasting' needs, all in an effort to grow the Livestream platform to the exclusion of all others. In many ways, similar to BMD's corporate agenda of building attractively priced products that target people's wants and needs, but ultimately, are designed to work with proprietary protocols within the BMD family of products, which kind of forces your hand if you choose to take advantage of all the features... But I digress.
In terms of marketing and advertising, well, I've never bought a "Big Mac" that quite looked like the image in the commercials, but I ate it anyways. I think most adverts work on the same principal.
Just my thoughts.

Guys, if you want to go cheap, check out the xiaomi yi, we just bought 6 of them for a 360 degrees camera, and they got clean hdmi out.. for 65$..
If you're a bit handy, you can even mount a C or CS mount lens on them in order to get rid of the fisheye, and get a zoom or prime lens instead at 20$.
With hacking software like XYC you can control almost every parameter of that camera..
I don't see why you would go amateur if you can go pro for the same money.
Like Martin said: this example movie was probably not shot with a 199$ camera :)
Even though this technology is really looking cool, I would just never recommend it to anyone. Everyone with a bit of livestreaming experience, knows that it's a bad idea to do it with a phone, that has limited or no control over parameters of the camera at all. A bit of counter light, low light, bad internet connection or another technological issue and your production is useless..
Also: iphone only.. For the price of an iphone 6 i build a rig that handles vmix with 2 hd inputs :)
They had better made some app that takes a sample from the phone's internal camera. That would be even cheaper, and probably the quality would be almost the same if we're talking about the newest iphones and some flagship models of other brands.
