Good evening , I wanted to ask if Blackmagic Design DeckLink Mini Recorder has limits on streaming . Or rather , the capture card can facilitate or not streaming , based on the quality ?

Thank you

ps I have to choose between a Blackmagic Design DeckLink Mini Recorder , or AVerMedia Live Gamer HD Capture Card On - PCI Express ( C985 ) . What advise?

@ STADIORADIO

Not sure I understand the question...
Each card is designed for slightly different markets but will likely perform similarly with an HDMI input signal depending on what exactly you are attempting.
I am not familiar with the AverMedia card but the BMD Mini Recorder has been getting pretty good reviews even though Blackmagic products are known to be temperamental in some set-ups with getting the settings and firmware right.

@STADIORADIO

I use vMix on a system that uses 2 AverMedia DarkCrystal HD Capture SDK II (C729) cards without any issues. I have another system that I used primarily for Wirecast that had an AverMedia Game Broadcaster HD (C127) and a Blackmagic Intensity Pro. I also have used vMix on that system too.

The thing I notice is you can use longer HDMI cables successfully with the AverMedia cards. The Blackmagic Intensity Pro doesn't seem to like anything over 10 feet.

Thank you all for the important information . The thing I wanted to know is whether the quality of the capture card , affect in any way the stability of the transmission stream

Apart from not liking long hdmi cables, the blackmagic drivers are also not always perfect. When used in combination with 4k intensities, you can expect some problems. Other then that, super stable and high quality capture cards..

In short , I was right to buy this , AVerMedia C727 DarkCrystal HD Capture SDK , not the C729 , but it's probably better than the Blackmagic Design DeckLink Mini Recorder.

:-)

However , I still have no answers to my dumb question : What I wanted to know is whether the quality of the capture card , somehow influence the stability of the streaming

Grazie!

Video quality if they are digital devices hdmi with the same specs and the same source. Then you would expect the same visual in vmix.

You talk about stability or reliability and that is mostly down to drivers, heat management and product testing.

All devices have failures and most have lemons. Trial and error will point that out.

The thing is that miniRecorder has HD-SDI input and he is ok for long distance cable
