I purchased an M-Audio ProFire 2626 for use with vMix. The unit works as it is seen in my DAW software. I have gig today...

Get the following error:
Could not start ASIO Device M-Audio ProFire
ASIO_BASS_ERROR_UNKNOWN

Any help appreciated.

First off, I have no knowledge or experience with your product so I'm only taking a stab in the dark...
What drivers are you running for your Firewire controller?
I know running cameras through Firewire required legacy drivers to work properly with some software, maybe it is similarly related.

(P.S. I feel your pain, keep us posted)

This is a firewire device. Only one legacy driver available, and loading iy did not work. I cannot load the ASIO invmix, but I can load Multichannel (M-audio ProFire), but I have no idea what this is or if it will work.

Thanks for post.

I have a backup plan, but purchased the ProFire only for use with vmix.

Support response, Make sure latest drivers are installed, and make sure nothing else is using ASIO. I set DAW software to wav, and looked under sound in windows control panel. Removed M-Audio as default device. I also removed older driver and reinstalled newer. Still no luck. Noticed there is a vMix update...installing it now.

No luck. I am a little pissed off. Checked before purchasing and clearly stated that ASIO is fully supported. Contacting support again....

I have a Presonus Firepod. I tested it with vMix the other day and it would work when the Firepod was set to 44.1kHz, but not when set to 48kHz. You might give it a try.

Thanks for the post. I tried both 44.1 and 48 to no avail. The latest word from Martin at support, who has been trying to find a solution is maybe two fold, fist, something else is using the device - I searched under task manager for applications, processes, services to see if anything is using the device, could find nothing. Set DAW software nto dummy asio, set sound card default to internal sound card, and nothing else was found running - then is was gig time and I had to head off...All went well at gig because I still had the old system I was using previously...last thing to check - running vMix at 32 bit. Martin feels there may be a problem with the device under 64 bit even though there are 64 bit drivers.

Will test this later tomorrow.

Yup. I searched the system to see if anything was using the device and could find nothing. There is a sound card built into the system board - I set Windows sound to this device, and the DAW to dummy asio. No other app was running, no other service or anything else was using the ProFire, to the best of my knowledge.

I want the multiple input audio device working because then I can split the mics, and have my own inputs that can be monitored and mixed for video separate from the live audio mix. Its the way to go.

Finally getting back to work on the system. Starting 32 bit vMix did not solve problem. This is the last suggestion from support. Contacting them again....

Update. Martin took over my machine today (Sunday) using Teamviewer. After careful diagnosis, he was able to install a small patch for vMix and fix the issue. It turns out that the Profire is cranky about its buffer settings - the patch automatically detected and set the buffers.

I have to say, I have never had such AWESOME response to an issue from ANY company I've ever dealt with. I am happy with vMix, glad I bought it - and want to thank Martin for going above and beyond the call of duty to help solve a problem.

Totally awesome!

Thank you!

Absolutely outstanding !!!

Martin never ceases to impress.

@ mikekay

Keep us all posted as to how the M-Audio ProFire 2626 works for you.
Out of curiosity, can vMix recognize each individual input or is it a single audio input like a USB mixer?

With ASIO working you can select any of the 26 various inputs in either stereo pairs or as mono channels. Now I have to solder an 8 channel patch panel.....sigh...

@ mikekay

So one FireWire connection to PC but up to 26 individual audio inputs in vMix?

If so, definitely the way to go.

Ya. The purpose is that I can mic split my inputs and mix and monitor all my inputs separate from the PA mix. Set my own gains, etc...full control of my audio.
