Hi

I film a lot of dance concerts and are pretty happy with results recently with recording in Vmix at 720 50P.

I generally shoot 2 cameras, one wide, one close. I have recently transitioned from DVD to USB and so are now in the hunt for giving my customers the very best viewing experience.

My issue is I have 2 different cameras and one exports a higher frame rate.

Canon XF205 does 1080 50P (when set to MPEG4 recording mode)
Canon XF305 only does 1080 50i

I am thinking of recording in vmix in 1080 50p and upscaling the Xf305 from 720p to 1080P.

I'm wondering how this will look?

Anybody done this?

720p upscaled to 1090p is generally not that bad. Am I correct in assuming we are talking about non live content distribution? If so and you have some time for post process there are some pretty decent 3rd party upscaling software. But for live use, I doubt most people can discern the difference between 720p and 1080p. Also do a test with the MPEG-4 codec, some of the on camera MPEG encoders are quite bad.
