We wanted to add a Atomos Ninja 2 recorder to vMix. We've recorded our line cuts directly to Matrox Monarchs via HDMI with no issue. When we plug the Atomos in it freaks out and will not record. Does anyone know if vMix supports Atomos recorders? If so have you had any issues with them?

Thanks,

@ LA_VIDPRO

I guess the first question is 'How are you feeding the Ninja'?

From the Atomos support knowledge base:

I think we solved the issue. We will need to use the output from our I/O device and use a different recorder with SDI input. While I like the Atomos Ninja it probably won't fit our needs, we'll need to move to the SDI version or a blackmagic hyper shuttle.

If you already own a Ninja you can add an Atomos Connect SDI to add SDI input.

That is true and we're looking into that as an option. Thanks for the reminder.

I do it here. We have an HDMI hub that feeds multiple machines, plus the ninja. Works great.

The bonus is you get another battery and charger when you buy the Atomos Connect SDI. It's certainly not the cheapest way to convert SDI to HDMI, but work rather nice with the rest of the Atomos Kit.

Atomos update. We switched output to the DVI port and ran a DVI to HDMI cable. Our output from vMix is being recorded with no issues.

when recording out to a BM Hyperdeck Shuttle via PC>HDMI out>Hyperdeck, then you have to make sure your color space is set correctly or you will get a "green screen" recorded on the Hyperdeck.
