Hi there
I'm just after some advice on the best way to bring in a Skype call to Vmix.
The scenario I have coming up is that I have an information session which will have a live audience of about 200 and then this will be streamed online as well. I will need to bring in a skype call so that the person on stage can speak to them through the wireless mic, I will then show the skype call on a big screen and through the in-house PA. I need to then stream this as well.
Getting the camera and audio into skype is pretty easy, I just want to know if I will run into any looping/feedback and how to best avoid it? Anything else I should be aware of?
I'm using a Focusrite 18i20 as my audio interface. Will I need Virtual Audio Cable or is that not necessary?

I would bring Skype in on a separate machine then split the output to the screen and into the vmix computer. Audio I would take through a separate mixer to give as much control as possible. You may also need to delay the audio slightly too, so you may need a device like a Beringher Shark for that purpose.

Hi Ice/folks Is this still the best approach for Skype? I want to do some remote interviews. Is there any recommended modifications to vMix settings (audio or video) to capture the interviews in 720 at least. Thanks Whit

Here is what we do:
* 3 Computers - Broadcast computer running vMix HD, 2 Skype Computers
* Skype Computer 1 calls Guest, co-Host & Skype Computer 2
* Both Skype computers send video to Broadcast computer via HDMI
* Broadcast computer receives video via AverMedia C985 cards (2x)
* Skype Computer 1 sends audio to mixer
* Skype Computer 1 has Guest as main video
* Skype Computer 2 has Co-Host as main video
* Broadcast computer uses vMix Full Screen to send video, via HDMI, to Skype Computer 2
* Skype Computer 2 uses AverMedia c985 card to receive video, uses this as an input in vMix Basic HD
* Skype Computer 2 uses the External output of vMix Basic HD as the video for Skype so co-Host and Guest can see the live output as it happens
Sounds complicated, but it really isn't. This method eliminates the audio/video sync issues I had when using Desktop capture to get video. It also allows my guest and co-host to see the live feed. We use YouTube live embeded on our site and with the 15-30+ second delay, it just didn't work for them to watch that to see what was being discussed at the moment.

When I am speaking I mute my speakers so I don't hear my part of the conversation thru them. 2. If I use my webcam as the input to Skype, I can't use it as an input to vMix. I want to use the Socxial Media split screen title with both sender & receiver in a window. My work around is to not send video. Anyone lnow of a way to avoid these two issues? Thanks Whit
