I am using vMix Basic HD as a vehicle for doing remote woodworking demonstrations.
I typically use 3 webcams, and one "other" input (a desktop screen, powerpoint, or video), and can squeak by within the Basic license of 4 inputs with 3 cameras.
The price jump from the $60 Basic HD (a great bargain) to the $350 full HD puts the latter out of the ballpark for most people who could potentially do these demonstrations (they are mostly not professional demonstrators).
We don't need 1000 inputs, multicorder, instant replay etc.
However, it would be GREAT if we could license one or more additional inputs and/or overlay channels for reasonable fees.
For example, it would greatly simplify my setup if I could have 3 cameras and 3 or 4 "other" inputs available, so I don't have to keep stopping the stream and loading different presets.
So, please consider this, as it might enable more people to put your great software to work.
Thanks.

Hi Alan,
vMix Basic HD is provided at a substantial discount to help people get started and does not reflect the real cost of building all the features available.
This is why there is a big price leap. Making inputs available cheaper would undercut our resources in building the next generation of features.
Regards,
Martin vMix

I understand. However, there might be some middle ground that could be affordable and still provide some additional functionality to those on very limited budgets. Even something in the $150 range could still be attractive, and hopefully not cannibalize sales to professionals.
Thanks for the consideration.

@ AlanZ Have you considered the SD version? http://www.vmix.com/purchase/It just might fit the bill, everything that vMixHD has, just limited to SD resolutions, which in the grand scheme of things is easier on resources and bandwidth. Ice

Ice, yes I have considered it. However 720p is really the low bar for the demonstrations I have to do, as the subjects often involve small, very detailed objects.

@ AlanZ
It's your call, and if you've already tested it and deemed it "unacceptable", then you will have to proceed as best you can with what you've got. I just found that it was a great way to get started with vMix and allows me to "grow" into the next version as I am able (you only pay the 'difference' in price on the "Up Grade", so $90 this year and then maybe $150 next year and you are there with vMix HD, all the while, developing your following and getting the most out of vMix's feature set).
Just my thoughts.
