I was testing another software driven program not long ago which had a built in camera auto switch which you can adjust customized with certain presets for how often you want the camera to switch and an option to do that with each input.

This is helpful with limited camera operators.

You probably have it but I have not found it.

Also, is there an option for switching automatically to a slide/picture as you click to the next slide so to speak which would also allow you to choose a default port to drop back too after a customized number of seconds?

Have you tried the "Playlist" feature?
[set-up with cog wheel beside 'Playlist' button along bottom]

You can "Automate" switching with any of your 'Inputs' including cameras, combine that with certain "Triggers" and you can accomplish an awful lot.
[double click each 'Input' of your list to modify timing/transition etc.]
