I purchased a 65 foot USB2 Active extension cable for extending my USB camera, and it seems to work very well.

Great to hear :) I tried one with an ethernet cable but no luck.

I've tried the 65 foot cable with my Lifecam studio in 720p, and my Logitech C920 at 1080p.

I've got very good results with this USB 2.0 extender over cat5e: (max 50 meter / 150 feet)

I tested it with a Microsoft Xbox 360 vision cam.

(the extender needs to be powered at the camera side, power supply is included)

I've used a similar active USB 2.0 extender to locate a Logitech C920 on our front porch. The host computer was about 20m distant in my home office. I set this up to stream Halloween trick or treaters here in Houston to family in rural Canada, where such things don't happen because of geography.

Using the Logitech cameras that have compression engines (C920, C930, BCC950, CC3000e, PTZ Pro) the amount of data passed over the USB link is quite modest. This make such arrangements more robust.
