Since we are doing a lot of recordings on generator power nowadays, I decided to make a new file every hour, so if the electricity would fail, we never loose the whole file. I know MKV and Mpeg TS are able to deal with this, but we record for very long periods of time, so MKV is too big and Mpeg TS will give trouble when editing in premiere since it's CBR. Also, files that are broken by electricity failure can be fixed with WinX, so even if electricity fails the last file is fixable.

We recorded inside Vmix, since I don't know of any software that has this option to split the files. I'm happy we did it, because electricity failed on two occasions already (1 generator fail, one time a guy accidently pulling out our cable).

I'm now editing some footage, and noticed the last seconds of every file contain no audio at all. We recorded in mp4 75 megabit.

This is a problem, since it's music that we capture. Sometimes 15 hours straight.
