We recently did a huge live production: the Dutch Korfball Finals (National Championship 2014-2015).

During the event we had a separate studio with 3 cameras connected to vMix. The studio signal was pushed to another computer running 4 cameras (and the studio input), including the livestream. 2 cameras were located next to the playfield (left and right), one camera aside (on a raised platform in the middle) and one remote camera in top of the arena, straight above the playfield. Both computers were running vMix 15. For communication we used a two-way intercom system.

For the presentation of the players we prepared chroma key movies together with XAML titles. During the game various animated XAML titles where used to present scores, time-outs, shot clock violations and other kind of player & game statistics. A separate system was responsible for queuing the statistics (via the vMix API) since the data comes directly from the official jury system.

Finally the output was presented on a huge ledscreen above the audience on the right side. More than 10.000 people attended the game. We intensively used the standard delay functionality to present replays, both on the ledscreen and of course on the livestream.

In total we streamed 3 matches, all with two commentators. Two of them can found by clicking on the links below. The final game had more than 6.000 live unique views.

Very Cool!

I've never heard of the sport, looks like a variation of basketball with taller goals/baskets without backboards, a larger playing field and no dribbling, co-ed to boot...
How is it that the sport or at least this event was so popular to fill the stadium?

Proves there is more than Icehockey, Curling, American football etc that can atrack huge audiances LOL.
Should see how much crowds bicycle races (street or dirt) gather just to name a few.

Hint: in all these none standard kind of sports we can not rely on the "standard systems " so getting scores etc on screen all have different challenges ;-)

@IceStream,

Korfball is a really upcomming sport, played in more than 60 countries around the globe. A unique point is the combination of both male and female players in one team. Orginally, it was founded in the Netherlands. That explains the full arena.

@Rinsky,

In general, we're using JVC GY-MH600 cameras
Above the playfield, a Panasonic AW-HE120 camera was installed

Great production! And thanks for sharing a lot of information about it. Much appreciated.

Could you tell us about the resolutions and frame rates in cameras and vMix (for global, Inputs,and the stream)?
I am struggling with getting a smooth streaming. I tend to get what visually seems to be a slight frame rate reduction and/or intermettend stuttering/frame drops. Yours look really smooth, perhaps with some motion blur when panning. Assuming you streamed with YouTube and the videos you link to are the recorded streams. (My vMix recordings are just fine).

Also, if you streamed via YouTube, there is music in the video which maybe resulted in the preroll Google ads. But the stream was never interrupted due to "third party content" (the music)? I am wary to use YouTube streaming for that very reason.
