We have multiple systems running vMix that all have very poor performance running 1080p fullscreen of our output to a 2nd display. Our render time is usually between 6-13ms while recording 1080p30 and multicorder on 1 input. However, when we enable fullscreen output, our render time jumps to 70-130ms and we start getting lots of dropped frames. The CPU is not being taxed (i.e. <30% utilization). Has anybody experienced this issue?

Here are our system specs:
vMix 14.0.0.112 x64
Dual Xeon 2620 CPUs
nVidia GTX 650
16GB RAM
RAID1 OS & RAID5 recording
Windows 7

Our master framerate and resolution are 1080p30. Cameras are bringing in 1080p29.97. Sometimes we get dropped frames because of this, but nowhere near the number of dropped frames we get when we enable fullscreen output (e.g. 200 dropped frames in 4 minutes)

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried updating to the latest vMix 15.0.0.74? Martin has fixed a lot of problems with this update including full screen problems.

Also what motherboard are you using?

I am pretty sure your graphics card has hit its limit. (I had similar problems with GTX660).

If that's an option, reduce the resolution on the Fullscreens to 720. Or at least check with that resolution and see what hapens.

Thanks for your responses! I tried upgrading to vMix15 to test and no change. Also notice that even the input previews get severely delayed by a few seconds when running fullscreen.

The idea of the GTX 650 not being up to snuff is a little upsetting given that I'm pretty sure it used to be a recommended card for 1080p workflows on the vMix site, and that's now a GTX 750. I'm surprised you had a bottleneck with the GTX 660!

Oy, guess we have to shell out for a GTX 960 to make sure this problem goes away. We cannot reduce our master resolution to 720p to resolve the problem, but I will try it to test to make a case for the new graphics card fixing our fullscreen output woes.

The only problem with enabling Aero on a windows machine is the Toolbar Aero peak function. however if you go to Computer > Properties > Advanced System Settings > Performance and in the custom area of Visual effects theres a check box to disable Aero Peek.

Thanks again for the suggestions everyone. Unfortunately the problem is still outstanding.

Tried replacing graphics card with a GTX 960 and no change.

Also tried enabling Aero theme and no change. Sync was already unchecked and enable flipx was already checked.

All displays are connected to the same graphics card.

Anything else we can try? Render time still above 70ms and lots of dropped frames when enabling fullscreen output.

Hi,

Could you press the print screen button on the keyboard to take a screenshot of vMix and the fullscreen while it is running
and the render time is high. This will take a snapshot of both screens that can be emailed to info@vmix.com.au for further analysis.

Also go to Settings and click Export and send us that file as well.
