Hi everyone

I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction as to what I'm doing wrong with vMix.

I've been using vMix14 on the 60 free trial since January, so am coming to the end of the free period.

By and large I really like vMix and what it can do, but there's a couple of things that are causing me a headache.

Basically I've got some issues between vMix and FMLE.

Everything worked fine for the first month or so, before a couple of weeks ago I set a live stream going from vMix and my CDN wouldn't recognise the stream, and reported an error.

So I checked the Stream URL and the Stream Key were correctly entered, and they were, so there was no reason for it not to work.

Anyway, I then looked at FMLE directly, and the Stream Key information (as carried thru from VMix) had been suffixed by a "%1"

So I removed this additional "%1" in FMLE, but the only way my CDN receives the stream is if I start the stream both in vMix and then in FLME as well.

I'm then concerned I'd be streaming 2 concurrent streams ? Would I ? I ask because some of my viewers have since reported a 'looping' issue, where the video freezes and the audio then jumps back a minute or so and then plays back the audio until it reaches the point at which it froze before looping again.

I thought at first that this was maybe a separate issue with my CDN, but they advise of no problems with their infrastructure.

This looping problem only affects a small percentage of our viewers, but I would like to understand what's causing it.

Anyway, I've unistalled and downloaded FMLE 3.2 half a dozen or more times in the hope that my "%1" problem goes away but without success.

If I stream from vMIX using FFMPEG my CDN sees the stream without any problem, but I'm slightly reticent to use FFMPEG rather than FMLE as I've used that forever and at least know the ins and outs of it so would like to make it work with vMix.

Reading about FFMPEG on this forum last night and someone suggested that there could be audio sync issues after 30 mins or so, and I really don't want any of those as I do a 3 hour live stream at a time.

I've further added to my problems by downloading vMix 15 as I thought that may help, but it has not, and in fact I've now lost my additional vMix Title Pack that I purchased at the beginning of my trial. (I needed some extra scoreboards)

Any helpful advice would be most gratefully received.

Cheers Pete

Hi Pete,

If you see the %i in FMLE it sounds like multiple bit rates have been selected in the quality settings in vMix.
My guess is if you make sure only one bit rate is selected it will solve the problem and you will be able to stream directly in vMix.

FFMPEG is also a reliable option now with no known audio sync issues. From memory the issue reported by the customer was related to
a video file format issue on the server end and the actual stream itself was perfectly in sync.

Regards,

Martin

Thank you Martin for such a speedy reply.

I did suspect that my be the cause, as yes I do usually enter 2 stream keys into vMix.

One for a 2.5Mbps stream (1280x720) the other for a 1Mb (640x36) stream. I only have 4.5Mbps upload speed at my location.

By doing 2 streams my CDN then distributes the appropriate one based on the subscribers connection.

Ive got a broadcast later today so will try just streaming the one 2.5Mbps stream.

Is this a known problem, and is there a fix ?

Also, will I have to purchase the Title Pack again?

If you need to enter in two stream keys make sure they are separated by ; and the %i won't be added.
For the title pack, email your order confirmation email to us and we'll get it sent out again for you.
