Anyone using any of the Gos yet?

Hopefully the forum is bare because they are working perfectly and there is nothing to talk about.

Reviews? Thoughts?

How well is it built? How hot does it get? etc

thanks
Jim

Hi Jim,

I believe we have a review coming out in the NAB issue of Streaming Media magazine. I haven't seen it yet so cannot comment on what the editorial says. Feedback from customers has been good though. Folks love the portability/capability/price and all were pretty pleased when we pushed through a free upgrade to the Pro version software. I'll leave it customers/reviewers to discuss the build quality but heat is an area we focused on and the unit does very well with a fan strategy that is a lot quieter than some rigs in this class.

Hi Ken,

Thanks for the reply.

I saw that article this morning. It's a nice write up but more of a tutorial/overview of the software rather than a review of the hardware. Still nice to see vMix getting some press.

I do have a couple of questions if you don't mind.

- What size monitor is included on the vMix box?

- In the vMix GO Youtube video Martin mentions an additional 3 HDMI outputs on the same side of the box as the regular PC backplate but these aren't listed in the tech specs on the GO site. Are they still included and are they tied to the external output of vMix or the graphics card output of the PC?

Thanks again for your time.

Jim

The tutorial is something done by one of our partners in New York called videoguys.com but we provided the system. Since Jan Ozer had the box for the tutorial I asked if he would do an unbiased review and they agreed. So, in the NAB issue we should see a new article with the full review.

Display is 17.3"
We use a GTX GPU that has DVI/HDMI/DisplayPort. The DVI is used to drive the display while the other two are open to be used for vMix outputs and fullscreen displays.

Btw, Martin made the decision that all GO customers should get the power of vMix Pro at no additional charge so now we are shipping with the full Pro version including vMix Replay. To get comparable capabilities out of our competitors would require an expenditure in the $30-40k range. Save the money and buy good cameras to go with your GO. Of course I'm a little biased.
