Hi vMix team,

I’ve been using vMix in professional live production environments, and I’d like to suggest a few improvements that I believe would make the interface faster, cleaner and more efficient for everyday production, particularly when working with large projects and many inputs.

### 1. Modernize / Clean Up the Add Input Window

I think it is time to simplify and modernize the Add Input interface.

Older or rarely used input types such as **DVD** and other legacy options could be moved into a separate **Legacy** section instead of occupying the same level as commonly used modern sources.

The main Add Input screen could focus on the sources that are used most frequently in current productions.

It would also be very useful to have a **Favorites / Frequently Used** section where users could pin the input types they use most — for example Camera, NDI, SRT, Video, Mix, Web Browser, etc.

This would keep all existing functionality while making Add Input much faster and cleaner to navigate.

### 2. Photos / Image Folder – Automatic Framing and Background Options

When using the **Photos input / Image Folder**, it would be extremely useful to have built-in display modes for images that do not match the production aspect ratio.

For example:

* Fit
* Fill / Crop to 16:9
* Stretch to 16:9
* Use another Input as Background
* Blurred / duplicated version of the same image as Background

This is particularly useful when a folder contains a mixture of landscape, portrait and differently sized images.

At the moment, portrait or non-16:9 images can leave large black areas around the image.

I know that some of this can be recreated manually using Position, Layers and additional Inputs, but for a live production this creates unnecessary setup and additional Inputs.

Ideally, these options would be available directly in the **Photos / Slideshow settings** and automatically applied to every image in the folder.

For example, with "Blurred Background" selected, a portrait image could remain correctly fitted in the centre while vMix automatically creates a full-frame blurred version of that same image behind it.

### 3. Make Mix Inputs Immediately Recognizable

When working with many inputs, I would like **Mix Inputs to have a clear and automatic visual identifier**.

This becomes particularly useful when organizing or hiding inputs, where it can become difficult to immediately distinguish a Mix Input from a normal source.

For example, Mix Inputs could have:

* a small **MIX badge/icon**
* a distinctive border
* a different header style
* or another subtle but permanent visual indicator

This should ideally be independent of Input Categories, since Categories already have their own user-defined colours and organizational purpose.

The idea is simple: **at a glance, the operator should immediately know that an Input is a Mix Input.**

### 4. General GUI Refresh / More Fluid Workflow

Finally, I would really like to see a broader refresh of the vMix GUI.

vMix is extremely powerful and reliable, which is obviously much more important than simply changing the appearance. However, I think the interface could evolve and feel more modern and fluid without changing the fundamental workflow that experienced operators already know.

Improvements such as:

* smoother interaction and drag-and-drop behaviour
* clearer visual hierarchy
* better visual identification of different Input types
* cleaner and more customizable Input organization
* more compact and logical menus
* better use of screen space
* more consistent visual feedback when operating controls

would make a significant difference, especially in productions with a very large number of Inputs.

I’m not suggesting turning vMix into a completely different application. The existing workflow and reliability are some of its greatest strengths.

I would simply love to see the interface evolve along with the capabilities of the software and become faster and more intuitive for professional operators.
