When a speaker has several slides within the powerpoint and would like to control the 'next slide' themselves, is this possible using a remote clicker?

Usually remote clickers emulate a the arrows click. If you catch the event in vMix you could use such devices.

What I do is, I use octocue (I'm a paying customer myself, no benefits) on a seperate laptop(s) to be more flexible. I use two laptops for prensentations to allow for changes on one while the other is online. Both use NDI screen capture (OMT could be used as well) to grab the presentation. I also use dummy HDMI dongles so I get two NDI streams out of the machines. One Presentation, one Speaker notes. An older mobile phone is used over wifi and the octocue app to click the slides. People can also use their personal phone for doing so. Same applies for remote presenters. The can advance their own slides this way as well. I add them through vMixCall or Teams over NDI.

It works super cool, zero issue in over 5 years.
