I have a computer with a previous version of vMix. I'm bringing it into a venue that has a Blackmagic streaming setup, but I want to use my vMix for the flexibility it offers.

The mics for the show are going through a sound board that is being piped into vMix via a USB mixer/audio interface. I'm outputting the whole program via HDMI to one of the inputs on Blackmagic, and then out to the stream. Meanwhile, that same audio is being piped to the house with a different mix (without ambient mics to avoid feedback and echo).

Here's my issue:

I will have videos that will play during the program, and they have synced audio. I'd prefer to trigger them via vMix, but if I do that, I need to send the audio out both to the stream AND to the audio mixer to send to the house. I've tried this in the past, but found that it was impossible with one audio device, seemed like I couldn't separately address the monitor outs to only send the video audio.

My other option is to trigger the video with a separate laptop, send the audio to the sound board, and put the video into vMix via an HDMI capture card.

I suppose functionally having two USB mixers/interfaces is about the same hassle as having one mixer and one laptop. I just want to make sure this makes sense and I'm not missing anything.

Sure, an audio interface can usually be used for in and out. Which device are you using?
Configure an audio bus (eg. Bus A) in Audio Output settings for your device and send the video to this bus.
