Hi everyone,
I am planning a new build for a dedicated vMix production and replay server and would appreciate your feedback on the hardware compatibility, specifically regarding the CPU choice and GPU VRAM headroom.
The Proposed Hardware:
CPU: AMD EPYC 7F52 (16 Cores, 3.5GHz Base / 3.9GHz Boost). Chose this for the high base clock on a server platform.
Motherboard: HUANANZHI H12D 8D
RAM: 64GB DDR4 3200MHz ECC.
GPU: Zotac RTX 5070 12GB.
Network: Intel X710 (10GbE).
System Storage: SSD Kingston 500Gb M.2 NVMe PCIe 4.0 (SNV3S/500G)
Storage (Replay): 2x Samsung 980 Pro NVMe M.2 2TB (MZ-V8P2T0CW). to split the load.
The Workflow:
Inputs: Multiple feeds arriving via SRT.
Outputs: We plan to use all 4 External Outputs via NDI.
Distribution: These NDI outputs will be used heavily, 3 times each output at least.
Replay: Continuous recording on the Samsung drives.
My Questions:
CPU Architecture: I know vMix typically favors high-frequency consumer CPUs (i9/Ryzen 9). Does anyone have experience with the high-frequency EPYC 7Fxx series? Will the mesh architecture introduce latency for this specific SRT/NDI workflow?
GPU VRAM: With 4 separate NDI encodes + Replay + SRT decoding, is the 12GB VRAM on the 5070 sufficient, or should I aim for a card with 16GB+ (like a higher tier or A-series)?
Thanks in advance for your advice!
