All,

For a recent event, I developed a method to perform native Projection Mapping within vMix, meaning I can display mapped scenes directly through outputs. I pre-define the mapping before the show and then import it into vMix using only its native features, eliminating the need for plugins or rerouting during the live event. The main benefit, especially compared to dedicated Projection Mapping software, is reduced latency: Everything happens inside vMix, with no additional content piping (like via NDI) that can add delay.

Currently, this method supports mapping rectangular sections of inputs onto arbitrary affine or perspective-mapped surfaces. It doesn't yet include animated mappings (though the content itself is animated), warped meshes, blend modes, or projection seam blending like in MadMapper. For non-art applications, such as corporate events, this functionality is usually sufficient.

The basic process involves creating the mapping in a separate tool and then importing it into vMix.

Would this interest you? Is this feature already available somewhere or in a different form that I haven't discovered?

CU,

Udo
