Hi all,

Really long story that I will try to keep short, but I run a sim racing broadcast channel here in New Zealand that streams to YT, twitch, kick and FB Live.

We had previously been using Streamlabs Ultra to multistream this which has worked well but is pricey with it's annual subscription.

vMix looks to have a lot of additional features and a lifetime subscription option which is a massive plus for us, especially when we are non-for-profit.

We already have all our broadcast content set up in StreamLabs with our overlays, transitions etc, and I was really hoping we could simply just output this directly into vMix and essentially use vMix as the multistreaming platform for us.

I have tried setting it up via the Virtual Camera option, but I just get a 'black' input screen in vMix. The StreamLabs virtual camera does show as a live option in vMix when it is running

I have tried setting up as an NDI source but for the life of me I cannot figure out how to output StreamLabs through NDI - seems to only support NDI inputs

I briefly looked into using a 'Mona Server' to use a rtmp input straight into vMix but this was a bit over my head!

Ideally, we will eventually rebuild and run solely in vMix but as we run broadcasts almost daily we do not have the time to fully rebuild everything into vMix

Is it possible to output StreamLabs into vMix ?

Thanks

If i remember well streamlabs needs extra plugin for NDI. Instead of trying to make mona rtmp server, you can try to send from streamlabs to vmix via SRT directly.
Into vmix go add input-->stream/srt-->stream type-->srt (caller). Hostname pc ip that runs streamlabs and if it is same pc you can put 127.0.0.1 and press ok
Then go to streamlabs -->stream and write something like srt://127.0.0.1:5000?mode=listener or the right ip if is in other pc.
Then in streamlabs press to stream and see if you have video/audio into Vmix
SRT has many other options like latency, etc that you can find in Google

You're gonna want to just go ahead and learn vMix and make the switch when you can, it will be so much better. Running StreamLabs into vMix and streaming from there is a bit like sitting the the driver's seat of a Ferrari, but the Ferrari is on a tow truck.

You can use the Zoom for vMix plugin and allow the talent to join Zoom instead of Streamlabs, and pull their feeds in that way, but one limitation is only two can share at a time. If a third needs to share, one of the first two needs to stop their screen share first.

But the big advantage is you can talk to them without it going to broadcast, unlike Streamlabs where in order to be heard you have to be on the stage.
