If you want to create a shape with a color, then put a shape over the color shape with a gradient that allows the color to come through, you can not create a nested layer with alpha if you want the sum of that combination to be semi-transparent. This is a huge thing for score boards and athlete presentations. This could be eliminated by my other requests to allow for alpha channels in gradients and exposing them to data mapping. This scenario is how you would get around those limitations.
